The most recent volume of the Metroid Dread reports focuses on the mysterious Chozo race and its history. The story surrounding the Chozo appears heavily in the Metroid games.
Samus Aran herself was adopted by the Chozo and infused with their DNA. His suit is also Chozo tech, as well as the many upgrades Samus gets on his travels.
The Chozo were a highly intelligent and technologically advanced species of bird that believed their purpose was to bring peace to the entire galaxy. However, this once powerful civilization eventually reached a breaking point and collapsed. Now, the remaining Chozo tend to avoid the galactic focus of attention.
Chozo raised Samus on the planet Zebes. The DNA that was infused into it allowed it to survive the harsh conditions of the planet. The Chozo will play a vital role in Metroid Dread, where they will make an appearance.
Chozo Warriors in Metroid Dread
In the latest trailer reveal during Gamescom, multiple Chozo are seen and they are hostile to Samus. The reasoning for this is currently unknown.
The Chozo shown in the trailer possesses the advanced technology the race is known for. One of them is equipped with an Arm Cannon similar to Samus’s. We can also see that they can easily master it.
Chozo soldiers also appear, wielding spear-like weapons. In gameplay footage, they are shown to be very capable in combat.
Joining these Chozo fighters are Chozo robot soldiers, created with advanced technology. They have an electromagnetic blade and an arm cannon.
Chozo’s presence is one of the many “terrors” in the Metroid Dread game. Samus was raised by Chozo, but the Chozo that appear in this game are extremely hostile. Furthermore, she is completely overwhelmed in her battle against a mysterious Chozo figure.
What plans do these Chozo have? Are they enemies or allies of Samus? If they are enemies, how the hell will Samus defeat them?
You will have to play the game to get the answers you are looking for!
