Stardew Valley Creator to Focus on New Game; No More Stardew Updates

The first Stardew Valley tournament has ended with great success. The event was held in collaboration with UnsurpassableZ and featured the most dedicated players in the game. Towards the end, a quick Q&A was held with ConcernedApe, which discussed the future of the game.

When asked what Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) has been working on recently, Barone replies that he was working on a new game that he might announce soon. It will be a pixel art game with a top-down perspective similar to Stardew Valley, but it will not be a farming game.

He also dispelled rumors that he was involved in Witchbrook, a pixel art simulator game that follows life in a magic school. The confusion was likely due to Witchbrook being developed and published by Chucklefish Games, who previously published Stardew Valley before Barone cut ties with them for allegedly exploiting their developers.

The questions and answers moved towards mods and the mod that allows players to marry candidates who cannot marry. Barone, stating that he finds the mods cool, mentioned that he would love for almost everyone to get married, but it’s just “a lot of work.”

For someone to become a candidate for marriage, that means I have to add a lot of dialogue and at least two more events. And those events take a long time. It may seem like it’s not a big deal, but it takes a great deal of time. There are many other things, such as having to do the spouse’s room. There is too much to do. So that is the reason why I have not added any more marriage candidates. But there is no reason why I should be against having more. I think it would be fun.

He also mentions that there are two characters in the game that he has in mind about making a marriage candidate. However, he emphasizes that he is not in active development, so do not expect to see more marriage candidates.

Speaking of Stardew Valley, it looks like Barone will be fully concentrating on his next game and will not be updating the game in the future. This comes after version 1.5.

I’m not even saying if there will be another Stardew Valley update, I don’t know at this point.

While fans shouldn’t expect any significant additions to the game, they can look forward to their next project.

The subsequent creator of Stardew Valley will focus on a new game; No more updates from Stardew appeared first on Gamezo.
