Even though Sims 4 has been available since 2014, the developers have yet to implement a way to change the Sims’ work outfit.
Even when your Sim has done well at work and earned a promotion, they can sometimes still be in their old clothes from their previous job level.
Sims 4 players will dress their Sims in everyday accessories like jewelry and glasses, but they will see them take them off when they put on a work outfit, which makes no sense if your Sim is a common spectacle wearer, they will need it to see at work.
Not only that, but some players have also seen their Sims automatically switch into some ridiculous outfits.
Imagine your Sim, who is a high-class lawyer, donning a suit with slippers instead of shoes.
That’s not very professional and you couldn’t dress like that for work in the real world (unless you’re still in your comfortable nightwear, working from home).
Another career that people have struggled with is the detective career. The automatically assigned work team will look nothing like the career in question, and sometimes that’s the fun of the job.
You want your detective to look like Sherlock Holmes, not just an everyday T-shirt and jeans outfit.
It’s a small thing, but fans of the game have wanted to change their workwear since its release, but seven years later, it is surprisingly still not included in the game.
Currently, the only way to change your work clothes is through mods and cheats. These are some of the best created for Sims 4.
How to change work outfit in Sims 4?
One option is to change your Sims’ work attire through Create a Sim Using a Cheat.
First, enable the Sims 4 cheats. To do this on PC or Mac, press CTRL + Shift + C all together, while in-game. To access the cheats on PS4 and Xbox One, press all four triggers at the same time.
When the cheat box appears, type sims.modify_career_outfit_in_cas. This will change the work outfit of the currently selected Sim. You can keep using the hack as long as you need to get your desired outfit.
Disclaimer: Some cheats may not work in Sims 4 for console.
Plan Race Outfit Mod
A mod simply titled “Career Outfit Plan” has been created. This mod adds a new interaction to all dressers, mirrors, and cabinets in Sims 4.
This mod will open Create a Sim and give the player the option to choose their own outfit for the next time they go to work so you can be as creative as your heart desires.
If you want to install or get additional details of the mod, you can find them here.
Having to change your work outfit through mods and cheats is not the easiest way to enhance your gaming experience.
We hope EA will hear from fans asking for help and will automatically implement the option in the game soon. Or, at least, in the next Sims title (if we have one soon).
